🎉HUHRA Special General Meeting & 2nd Birthday Celebration 🎉
📅 Date: Thursday 10th September 2026
🕡 Time: 6.30pm (meeting starts)
📍 Location: The Joiners Arms
Join us for an evening of community, conversation and celebration!
Our Special General Meeting (SGM) gives residents the opportunity to help shape HUHRA's future. We'll be discussing proposed constitutional changes, voting on the Zone 1B parking proposals, selecting the winning Welcome Booklet cover photo and hearing about current community issues. We'll also be looking for new volunteers and Committee Members to help support HUHRA's work.
If the proposed constitutional changes are approved, this year's AGM would move to March 2027, giving us more time to rebuild community engagement, encourage new volunteers and strengthen HUHRA before full Committee elections take place.
After the meeting we'll celebrate HUHRA's 2nd Birthday with cake and the chance to catch up with neighbours.

How Can We Do Better? Your Ideas and Suggestions
HUHRA Celebration Party
Why are we changing our Rule Book?
Our Constitution sets out how HUHRA operates, and we’re proposing a few updates to help the group run more flexibly in the future.
Since HUHRA was formed, we have learned a lot about how the Association works in practice. These proposed updates are intended to make the Constitution clearer, more practical and better suited to a volunteer-led community group.
The main changes include:
Introducing Interim Custodians so that HUHRA can protect its money, records and responsibilities if there are temporary gaps in the Committee or Officer roles.
Providing flexibility if a Committee Member needs to temporarily cover a vacant role.
Moving the closure process into the main Constitution and linking it with the Interim Custodian arrangements.
Clarifying how appendices and role descriptions can be updated, so guidance can evolve as HUHRA’s needs change without unnecessary constitutional changes.
Updating numbering and layout to make the Constitution easier for members and volunteers to follow.
Please take the opportunity to read through the proposed constitutional changes before the SGM. There will be an opportunity to ask questions before attendees are invited to cast a single vote on the proposed amendments, rather than voting on each individual change.
Detailed information about the constitutional changes is available below

Can you spare a little time to help HUHRA?
Everyone has something they can offer. Whether it's designing posters, helping with social media, organising events, taking photographs, delivering newsletters, or simply lending a hand occasionally………..we'd love you to join the HUHRA Team!
Interested in joining the HUHRA Committee?
We're currently looking for volunteers for some Committee roles:Vice Chair
Treasurer
Minutes Secretary
General Committee Members to help support HUHRA’s work
Taking on one of these roles doesn’t mean making a long-term commitment. Roles will be held until our next Annual General Meeting, giving you the chance to see if it suits you and your other commitments. If it’s not the right fit, you can step down at any time.
No previous experience is needed; guidance and support will be available. The most important thing is a willingness to help make our community even better.
Nominations for these committee roles are now open, and should be received by Sunday 6th September 2026. Can’t make the meeting but would still like to get involved? Let us know before the SGM and you can stand for election in your absence.
For further information on any of these roles:

What's happening with parking in our area?
Find out more about the proposed Zone 1B parking changes, including the new permit holder parking bays outside 88–94 Alexandra Terrace and the change that would allow permit holders to park without time limits in two-hour bays throughout Zone 1B (except bays outside businesses). Have your say before we hold a public vote.
If you’re unable to attend the meeting, you can still have your say. Just let us know your view by Sunday 6th September , and we will include your response in the overall vote.
We're looking for our next front cover photo! 📸
Could your photo appear on the front cover of the 2026/27 HUHRA Welcome Booklet? To enter this community competition, submit a landscape-format photograph taken somewhere within the HUHRA area by Sunday 6th September to enter our community photo competition.
All eligible entries will be displayed at the SGM, where attendees will vote for their favourite. The winning photograph will feature on the front cover of the 2026/27 HUHRA Welcome Booklet, with the photographer credited inside.
Got something you'd like to raise?
Bring along any community issues or concerns that matter to you, and share your ideas for future HUHRA events, projects and campaigns.
How can we do better?
HUHRA is always looking for ways to improve how we support our community. If you think we can do better ……….tell us!
Your Community.
Your Voice.
Your HUHRA.
Be Part of Something Good!
We hope you'll be able to join us and help shape HUHRA's future.

🪑 A camping chair or picnic blanket
🏮 A lantern or something to light up your spot as the evening draws in

HUHRA's Great Community Clean Up 🥾
📅 Date: Saturday 24th April 2027
🕡 Time: 2-4pm
📍 Where to meet : The Joiners Arms
Two hours of fresh air, teamwork and community spirit; followed by our Bring & Share Volunteers’ Buffet at The Joiners Arms from 4pm onwards.
Over the past 2 years, we’ve tried to build this event into a regular community activity, but we haven’t yet had the level of local support needed to make it sustainable. We’re giving it one more opportunity in 2027, but its future will depend on residents coming together and showing that this is something our community wants.
Bring along your gloves, tools and sturdy footwear, plus something to share for our Volunteer Bring & Share Buffet, and help us keep our neighbourhood looking its best.
Meet at 1.45pm at The Joiners Arms. HUHRA will provide bags, bag hoops and litter pickers, organise teams, and then head out for a couple of hours of litter picking before returning to The Joiners at around 4pm.
We’ll finish by relaxing together at the Bring & Share Volunteers’ Buffet; sharing food, enjoying conversation and celebrating the difference we can make when we work together.
We’d love to see this event continue, but we need your support to make it happen.
